2020-2021 Student Board Members Sworn in at 8/4/20 PUHSD Board Meeting

The Placer Union High School District welcomed its 4th set of Student Board Members as they were sworn into their role at the 8/4/20 Board of Trustees Meeting. Due to COVID-19, the students joined the meeting remotely and took their oath via Google Meet. The students were selected following an application process in spring 2020 that was also remote.

The Student Board Member functions as a preferential voting representative to the PUHSD Board of Trustees. The Student Board Member provides the PUHSD Governing Body and the Superintendent with information regarding student interests and concerns gathered via diverse student populations and ideas thereby enhancing relevance and effectiveness of many school sites and district programs. The district is excited to introduce:

Sarah Downey - Represents Colfax High School

Gianna Domeny - Represents Del Oro High School

Joshua Smith - Represents Foresthill High School

Carson Seeman - Represents Placer/Confluence/MVCA

Sarah Downey, Josh Smith, Giana Domeny

Carson Seeman

The PUHSD Board of Trustees welcomes student representatives in an advisory capacity to its bi-monthly meetings. The "student voice" vote is critical to governance conversations as the district continues forward with student-centered initiatives and outcomes. Their story and writing talent was recently selected for a feature article for the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) online magazine. Click to read. Best wishes to last year's student trustees: Thea, Mackenzie, Madison & Alexander. Thanks for sharing your gifts.

Local Control

Action Plan

Executive Order (EO) N-56-20 was established on April 22, 2020, to address the impact of continued school closures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the local educational agencies' ability to conduct meaningful annual planning, and the ability to meaningfully engage stakeholders in these processes. EO N-56-20 approved the waiver for the Local Control and Accountability Plan and Budget Overview for Parents requirements and established in its place the requirement that PUHSD adopt a COVID-19 Operations Written Report and Maidu Virtual Charter Academy COVID-19 Operations Written Report by June 30, 2020.

Senate Bill 98 (SB 98) established the Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan (Learning Continuity Plan), which is intended to balance the needs of all stakeholders, including educators, parents, students and community members, while streamlining meaningful stakeholder engagement and condensing several preexisting plans. In particular, it was important to combine (1) the intent behind Executive Order N-56-20 (https://www.gov.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/EO-N-56-20-text.pdf), which required a written report and envisioned an off-cycle Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) due December 15th, and (2) the ongoing need for local educational agencies (LEAs) to formally plan for the 2020–21 school year in the midst of the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Learning Continuity Plan replaces the LCAP for the 2020–21 school year and supersedes the requirements in Executive Order N-56-20. This plan is intended to memorialize the planning process that is already underway for the 2020–21 school year. PUHSD Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan and MVCA Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan
