Placer County SELPA

The Placer County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) includes the 16 school districts and one county office of education in Placer County. The SELPA serves approximately 7,000 special education students, from age 0 to 22.  The basic goal of the SELPA is to ensure that these students receive a "free appropriate public education" through high quality special education programs and services in the most effective, efficient and cost-effective manner practicable.

The SELPA staff supports quality instruction for students, parents, fellow educators and the community. The SELPA believes instruction should address all ability levels and learning styles through collaboration and cooperation. SELPA staff members are accessible, resourceful, and knowledgeable.  The SELPA encourages an environment for learners to be successful, motivated, and flexible thinkers who take responsibility for their own learning.
