Classification Study


PUHSD CLASSIFICATION STUDY 2014

The classified and confidential employee groups will participate in a classification study during the second half of the 2013-2014 school year. The study will be conducted by Ewing Consulting. The study consists of the following:
  • Prepare class descriptions which accurately describe current duties and responsibilities and requirements for 51 classifications covering about 160 positions
  • Allocate about 160 employees to the classifications as described
  • Perform a salary survey of public sector organizations, focusing on comparable districts
  • Utilize a job evaluation technique to properly establish internal equity within the various classifications
  • Assure compliance of class descriptions with the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Provide specific recommendations regarding the appropriate level of compensation for all classes
  • Provide a carefully described and valid method for arriving at future determinations of base salary
  • Recommend other work flow, management practices, policies and procedural changes based on this thorough review of the organization
Important Dates
  • January 14, 2014 - Mr. Ewing will provide a report at the PUHSD Board of Trustees meeting
  • January 21, 2014 - Orientations sessions with employees  at PUHSD office, 13000 New Airport Road, Auburn - 11:00 to 11:45am;  3:00 to 3:45pm; 4:00 - 4:45pm
  • January 21, 2014 - First meeting of advisory committee at PUHSD office, 13000 New Airport Road, Auburn - 2:00 - 2:45pm
  • February 7, 2014 - Questionnaires due - turn in to supervisor
  • February 14, 2014 - Supervisors turn in completed questionnaires to HR
  • TBD - Individual interviews
